About Skating at Somerset House

Make sure that you check the date and time printed on your ticket, as this is the only time you will be allowed onto the ice, tickets can be obtained from Ticketmaster or from the onsite box office. On arrival at the rink show your ticket at the entry point and you will be presented with a wrist band and can then go on to collect your skates, the rental price of which is included in the price of your ticket.

Don’t leave everything to the last minute though, in order to make the most of your time on the ice it is best to arrive at least twenty minutes before you are due to skate as this will give you plenty of time to get your boots sorted out and will make sure that you get to enjoy a full hour on the ice. There is a training rink for those who feel a little too unsteady to take straight to the main rink. Remember that you will be skating outdoors so wrap up warmly and remember to take an extra pair of socks for some added comfort under the boots, gloves are a good idea too.

Activities Off the Ice

The skate lounge serves a variety of warm drinks and snacks, there is also a fully licensed bar and a fine dining option located within Somerset House. Admission is free into the Christmas Arcade a luxurious pop up style shopping mall. The arcade is located in the West Wing of Somerset House which overlooks all of the activity on the outdoor ice rink. Within the arcade you will find the very best in British design from jewellery and accessories to fabulous gift sets and furniture. The arcade will be home to more than fifty incredible designers so you are sure to find something to add a little bit of extra cheer to your Christmas festivities.
